| Beschrijving keerzijde | A delicate design featuring cherry blossoms and a crescent moon set against a field of decorative snowflakes, with the largest central snowflake incorporating latent image security technology that reveals different motifs depending on the viewing angle. The composition reflects the four-seasons imagery associated with the Local Autonomy commemorative series. Inscriptions include the series denomination, year of issue in the Japanese imperial era, and the commemorative legend. |

Issued to mark the 2020 Tokyo Olympics — still four years away at the time of striking — this was among the earliest official numismatic releases in Japan's prolonged commemorative program leading up to the Games. The series ultimately ran across multiple years and denominations, making individual issues easy to overlook, though the 2016 pieces represent the opening salvo of what became one of the most extensive Olympic coin programs the Japan Mint has undertaken.
