| Obverse description | Central design features a colorized depiction of an Otoriosame-Chogin (official silver ingot) from the historic Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine, rendered in vivid polychrome enamel against the coin's mirror-like field. Flanking the ingot are large, naturalistic peony blossoms — the prefectural flower of Shimane — also colorized. The legend 日本国 (State of Japan) appears prominently, accompanied by 島根県 and its romanization SHIMANE, identifying the issuing prefecture. The denomination 千円 (1000 Yen) is inscribed in the lower field, while the characters 御取納 (御・取・納), repeated three times, reference the historical receipt markings found on genuine Iwami silver ingots. |
