Reverse description The reverse presents a stylized composition of cherry blossoms, a crescent moon, and ornate snowflake motifs arranged symmetrically across a mirror-polished field, characteristic of the Local Autonomy commemorative series. The largest central snowflake incorporates latent image technology, revealing concealed images when viewed from different angles. The denomination 1000 YEN appears in the lower field alongside the series inscription 地方自治六十年 (60 Years of Local Autonomy) and the issue number (47/60) denoting Ōita's position in the series. The date 平成24年 (Year 24 of Heisei, 2012) is inscribed in the lower portion of the field.
