North Korea periodically issues commemorative notes tied to regime anniversaries, and this 1000 Won marks the founding of the DPRK — though the state itself was formally proclaimed on 9 September 1948, not 1945. The 30 April 1945 date printed on the note references a specific event in official DPRK historiography rather than the republic's actual establishment, a distinction the Pyongyang authorities have never felt obliged to reconcile for outside observers.

Pick 47C is one of several variety designations within this commemorative run, distinguished by signature combinations. Western collectors have had limited ability to verify precise emission quantities, as the Central Bank releases no circulation data.
