Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is entirely devoted to a highly detailed sculptural representation of an ammonite fossil in cross-section, faithfully rendered across the entire surface of the irregularly shaped flan. The characteristic logarithmic spiral of the ammonite shell is depicted with finely engraved radiating ribs emanating outward from the tightly coiled umbilicus at the centre, graduating in size toward the outer whorls. The naturalistic texture of the satin-finished field contrasts with the polished relief of the ribbed suture lines, creating a vivid three-dimensional effect. The outline of the coin itself follows the organic contour of the ammonite form, with a finely serrated edge replicating the irregular margin of a fossilised shell. No legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse.

Aanvullende informatie

Mongolia's small-format gold issues in this period were produced under contract by foreign mints — the Bank of Mongolia has no domestic precious-metal striking facility. At half a gram of 18-karat rose gold, this is among the lightest gold coins in regular commemorative production anywhere, a format popularized largely by the Austrian Mint's mini-gold program in the early 2000s and subsequently adopted by smaller issuing authorities seeking affordable bullion-adjacent collectibles.
