To the right of the portrait, excerpts from the Emancipation Proclamation are inscribed in cursive script across the field, evoking the appearance of the original document. The name 'ABRAHAM LINCOLN' is prominently engraved in bold block letters to the right of the bust, above the cursive legend 'forever free; and authority thereof the freedom of such persons, or any'. The commemorative dates '1865-2015' appear at the bottom right of the field, marking the 150th anniversary of the Proclamation.
