Reverse description Printed in deep red intaglio on a plain paper ground, the reverse is dominated by a large central vignette of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, rendered in finely engraved detail with terraced ruins, stone structures, and the peak of Huayna Picchu rising in the background. The caption 'MACHU PICCHU' appears at the lower right of the vignette, denomination numerals '1000' occupy each corner, and the legend 'MIL SOLES DE ORO' runs along the bottom margin.
