| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Uganda occupies the central field, depicting a traditional Ugandan drum-shaped shield supported by a kob antelope on the left and a grey crowned crane on the right, with crossed spears behind the shield and a scroll bearing the national motto in the exergue. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2002 divided across the middle field flanking the arms. The denomination 1000 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower periphery in large lettering, and the motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY appears on the scroll within the arms. |
