附加信息

Issued to mark the July 1981 wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer, this piece belongs to a wave of commemorative gold struck by Commonwealth-adjacent nations capitalizing on the event's commercial appeal. Uganda was hardly alone — dozens of mints and issuing authorities produced wedding gold that year, and the market was glutted almost immediately.

The .500 fineness is notably low for a commemorative gold issue, a reflection of Uganda's precarious economic position in 1981. The country was still recovering from the chaos of Idi Amin's expulsion two years earlier and the subsequent Tanzanian occupation.
