| Reverse description | Central field features a full-color reproduction of a Swiss postage stamp depicting the Kreuzberge (Alpstein massif), showing the dramatic rocky peaks against a blue sky with green alpine meadows in the foreground. The stamp bears the inscriptions HELVETIA and the denomination 20 in red, with a fine perforated border rendered in relief. The series legend FAMOUS PLACES OF THE WORLD arcs along the upper periphery, and the location name KREUZBERGE appears along the lower periphery flanked by raised dots. The coin is bordered by a toothed (beaded) rim. |

| Additional information |
Uganda's 1996 shilling coinage was produced during a period of relative monetary stabilization under the Museveni government, following years of catastrophic inflation that had effectively destroyed the earlier shilling series. The Kreuzberge — the Ruwenzori range's German colonial name — sits on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, a region that remained geopolitically tense throughout the 1990s.
