| 背面描述 | Central field depicts a large African bull elephant in dynamic pose, trunk raised and tusks prominent, set against a savannah landscape with tall grasses and acanthus trees in the middle distance beneath a full moon. The finely detailed high-relief rendering conveys the animal's mass and movement. The fineness mark '999.5' appears within the field at lower centre. The upper legend reads '· AFRICAN WILDLIFE ·' arcing along the rim, while the lower legend bears '· ELEPHANT · 1 oz PLATINUM', all within a beaded inner border. |

Somalia's elephant bullion series began in 1999 and has been struck by the Bavarian State Mint (Bayerische Hauptmünzamt) in Munich throughout its run — an unusual arrangement given that Somalia has had no functioning central government for most of that period. The coins are legal tender in name only, issued under licensing agreements that make them effectively a German-produced bullion product wearing Somali authorization.
The platinum variant is by far the rarest struck in this series, with mintages a fraction of the gold and silver equivalents. Most years saw no platinum issue at all.
