| Reverse description | The central recessed field, rendered in applied color, depicts a full-bodied African elephant walking left with trunk raised, set against a scenic savanna landscape featuring a prominent volcanic mountain peak in the background and sparse vegetation in the foreground. The date range '1916-2006' appears in the lower portion of the colored field. The surrounding raised border bears the legend 'AFRICAN WILDLIFE' along the upper arc and 'ELEPHANT • 1 oz Ag 999' along the lower arc, separated by small dot ornaments. |

| Additional information |
Somalia's elephant bullion series began in 1999 and occupies an odd corner of the silver bullion market — technically issued by a state that had no functioning central government at the time. The Somali federal authority nominally licensing these coins had little practical control over the country, and production was contracted to European mints serving the collector and stacker market rather than any domestic monetary function.
The 2006 date is one of the more consistently encountered in the series, with no documented striking anomalies for this year.
