| Obverse description | Portrait of King George V in an oval vignette at upper right, set against a salmon-pink guilloche underprint with the denomination numeral 1000 in dark ink at upper left. The bilingual value inscription in Arabic script and Gujarati script appears in a central panel, with the issuer title across the top and the legal tender clause along the lower margin. The note is dated Mombasa 15th December 1921 and bears the facsimile signatures of three Members of the East African Currency Board. |
