| Obverse description | The obverse displays the Ugandan coat of arms in high relief at center, featuring a traditional shield supported by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with a representation of the River Nile and a drum at the base. The legend 'BANK OF UGANDA' arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the date '1999' divided on either side of the arms in the field. The denomination '1000 SHILLINGS' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The national motto 'FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY' appears on a scroll at the base of the arms. The entire design is bordered by a beaded inner circle and a reeded edge. |
