| Obverse description | The obverse displays the full coat of arms of Uganda in the central field, comprising a traditional shield decorated with horizontal wavy bands and a sun motif, supported by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, all resting on a grassy mound above a scroll bearing the national motto. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1999 divided to either side of the shield. The denomination 1000 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is framed by a beaded border. |
