| 裏面の説明 | The reverse features a stylized globe rendered as a grid in the field, overlaid with a relief map of the European continent. Two actual copper 1 Euro cent coins are affixed to the surface as applique attachments, one depicting the obverse with the numeral 1 and EURO CENT legend, and the other showing the reverse with an oak twig design representing Germany. Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolic of the European Union, are arranged along the lower arc of the rim. The circular legend THE NEW EUROPEAN CURRENCY is inscribed around the upper and lateral periphery. |

This piece belongs to a short-lived Ugandan commemorative program from the late 1990s in which the Bank of Uganda issued coins featuring embedded or affixed examples of foreign coinage as the central design element — here, an actual German euro cent struck by one of the German federal mints ahead of the euro's January 2002 cash introduction. The euro cent itself was a pre-release piece, produced during the 1999–2001 transition period when member states were minting circulation stock in advance.
Germany produced euro coins dated as early as 1999 for this purpose, none of which entered circulation until launch day.
