背面描述 The reverse carries a large central medallion of densely interlaced Javanese floral and foliate scrollwork rendered in olive green and brown intaglio, enclosed within a circular guilloche border. Symmetrical decorative ribbon and sunburst motifs in reddish-brown flank the central medallion on either side, while the denomination numeral "1000" is repeated in all four corners. A full-width text inscription runs along the lower margin, with the designer's imprint by Joh. Enschedé en Zonen also present.
背面铭文 C.A. MECHELSE DEL. JOH. ENSCHEDE EN ZONEN IMP.

备注

Bank Indonesia's early issues were largely produced in the Netherlands, a colonial-era dependency that continued well into the republic's first decade — politically awkward, but practical given the lack of domestic printing infrastructure. This 1000 Rupiah was printed by Enschedé in Haarlem, the same firm responsible for much of Dutch colonial currency and, later, Netherlands postage stamps. The divided design credits are unusual: Bessi handling the obverse, Mechelse the reverse, suggesting the two sides were developed as near-independent commissions rather than a unified composition.

The commemorative designation sets it apart from the standard 1952 circulation series — though the precise event being marked is not consistently documented across major references.
