Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features an entirely typographic design within a plain field, without a central effigy. The country name appears at the periphery in three scripts: Sinhala (ශ්‍රී ලංකා) at the top, Tamil (இலங்கை) at the right, and Latin (SRI LANKA) at the left. In the central field, the numeral '100' is prominently displayed above the commemorative dates '1921-2021', marking the centenary of the Communist Party of China. Below, the inscription 'COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA' is rendered in three languages — Sinhala, Tamil, and Latin — and the face value '1000' appears in large numerals at the lower centre, accompanied by the denomination legend in Sinhala (රුපියල්), Tamil (ரூபாய்), and Latin (RUPEES) along the lower rim.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts two crossed national flags in the upper central field — the flag of the People's Republic of China at left and the flag of Sri Lanka at right — rendered in fine relief. Below the flags, a detailed view of the Lotus Tower or a prominent jointly built stadium structure is shown in architectural perspective, symbolising bilateral cooperation. A trilingual circular legend surrounds the design, reading in Sinhala, Tamil, and Latin, commemorating 65 years of Sri Lanka–China diplomatic relations. The year '2022' appears in large numerals at the lower centre of the field.
