| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts a helmeted Sri Lanka Army soldier standing at attention in the foreground, raising one arm in triumph while grasping a large unfurled flag on a pole; a second armed soldier is shown advancing in the middle ground to the right. A decorative ribbon banner inscribed in Sinhala appears at the base of the design. The peripheral legend, separated from the field by a beaded border, reads in Sinhala at top, Tamil at left, and Latin at right, all conveying the motto VICTORY THROUGH SACRIFICE; the name of the Sri Lanka Army appears in Sinhala along the lower rim. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark the Sri Lankan Army's defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, a conflict that had ground on for 26 years and claimed an estimated 100,000 lives. The government declared victory in May 2009, and this commemorative followed within months — one of several issues the Central Bank released that year celebrating the end of the civil war.
