Nepal's commemorative silver program has occasionally produced collector curiosities, and this issue is one of them. The "error date" designation indicates a confirmed minting mistake in the date inscription — a significant enough anomaly that it warranted separate catalog recognition rather than treatment as a simple variety. Error coins from smaller national mints with limited commemorative output tend to survive in relatively intact quantities, as they are often caught and pulled before reaching wide distribution, with only a fraction making it through.
