Reverse description At center, a stylized solar disc enclosed within a raised circle. Flanking the central motif, the country name SRI LANKA is inscribed in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, accompanied by the year 2000. Around the periphery, eight auspicious symbols known collectively as the Astamangala are depicted in relief: the Sankha (conch shell), Punkalasa (filled ceremonial vessel), Srivatsa (auspicious knot), Camara (fly-whisk), Ankusa (elephant goad), Matsya-yugala (paired fish), Nandyavarta (curvilinear svastika), and Bhadrapitha (auspicious seat), rendered in a traditional Sri Lankan artistic style.
