The reverse is dominated by a large intaglio vignette of the Brihadeeswara (Tanjore) Temple, rendered in fine line engraving against a lightly shaded sky, set within an ornate guilloche border in dark brown and olive tones. The denomination panel at the lower left carries multilingual inscriptions in Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Urdu, and other scheduled language scripts within a decorative oval cartouche, while the Reserve Bank of India seal with the tiger-and-palm-tree device appears at the lower centre. The denomination "ONE THOUSAND RUPEES" is printed in bold letterpress along the lower right margin, with the Hindi equivalent "एक हजार रुपये" to its left; notably, the name tablet of the Tanjore Temple has been removed from this issue. |
