正面描述 Central field features the Lion Capital of Ashoka (the national emblem of India), depicted in high relief with four Asiatic lions seated back-to-back atop an abacus adorned with a Dharma Chakra flanked by an elephant, a horse, and a bull. Below the emblem, the national motto in Devanagari script reads 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Truth Alone Triumphs). 附加信息

The Brihadeeswarar Temple at Thanjavur was completed around 1010 AD under the Chola emperor Rajaraja I, and its construction involved moving granite blocks — the largest of which caps the vimana tower at an estimated 80 tonnes — without wheeled transport, across terrain offering no nearby quarry source. How the Cholas achieved this remains genuinely unresolved. The millennium commemoration prompted this issue, one of several silver rupee pieces the Reserve Bank authorized during the 2000s for cultural and historical anniversaries.
