1000 Roubles Field Treasury of the Northwest Front

The Field Treasury of the Northwest Front was the financial arm of General Nikolai Yudenich's White Army during its 1919 campaigns against Petrograd. These notes were issued to pay troops operating in the Baltic region — a force that came within artillery range of Petrograd in October 1919 before collapsing under a Soviet counteroffensive within weeks. The issuing authority effectively ceased to exist by the end of that year, and the notes with it.

Because the Northwest Army disintegrated so rapidly, many of these high-denomination issues never fully circulated — the logistical infrastructure to distribute and redeem them simply vanished before it could function. Survivors tend to show either heavy field use or none at all.
