Reverse description The mirror-polished reverse field features an allegorical relief figure of the ancient goddess Fauna to the right, accompanied to the left by depictions of animals indigenous to the Black Sea and Caucasus region. In the middle ground, set against a mountainous backdrop, a small figure of an ice hockey player is shown in the act of striking a puck. Below this composition, the inscription СОЧИ appears above the date 2014, both rendered in two lines, with five Olympic rings displayed beneath them.

Additional information

Issued under the CBR's long-running wildlife series, this 156.4g piece belongs to a program that has consistently attracted collector premiums well above melt — partly due to low mintages rarely exceeding a few hundred pieces, and partly because Russian commemorative gold of this size sees limited secondary market circulation outside domestic and Asian buyers.
