The Crimean Regional Treasury notes of 1918 were emergency issues produced under extraordinarily compressed political circumstances. The Crimean Regional Government under Sulkevich came to power in June 1918 under German occupation and lasted barely five months before collapsing in November — meaning the entire lifespan of this issuing authority fit within a single season. These notes were conceived, printed, and largely spent within that window.
Printing in Simferopol rather than an established financial centre meant limited typographic resources. The 1000 Rouble denomination was the highest in the series, issued partly to reduce the physical volume of currency needed to conduct transactions as inflation eroded smaller values.
Superseded by the Second Regional Government's issues almost immediately after the German withdrawal.
