Poznámky

Malaysia withdrew all 1000 Ringgit notes from circulation in 1999, along with the 500 Ringgit, as part of a sweeping anti-money laundering measure introduced by Bank Negara following the 1997–98 Asian financial crisis. The official line was to curtail large-denomination cash transactions used in tax evasion and corruption. Both denominations were demonetized on 1 July 1999, giving the public only weeks to exchange them at commercial banks — a tight window that ensured a meaningful percentage never returned.

Dual printing contracts split between De La Rue and Giesecke & Devrient were common for high-value Malaysian issues of this period, a hedge against supply disruption.
