Obverse description Brown on green, red, yellow and multicolour underprint, with a Persian carpet vignette as the central design element. The Lion and Sun national emblem is applied as an overprint over the watermark area, partially obscuring the portrait of the Shah beneath, while an arabesque guilloche panel frames the Shah's portrait at right. Inscriptions in Persian script appear across the upper and lower registers.
