Reverse description The reverse depicts a large armillary sphere traversed diagonally by a sword or scepter, with the mint mark 'R' (Rio de Janeiro) visible at the center of the sphere. An anchor is positioned at the base of the design, and the circular legend 'STAB. SVBQ. SIGN. NATA' is distributed around the periphery of the field in Latin characters, reading from upper left through the lower portion. The composition is bold and well-centered, consistent with the milled coinage of the Casa da Moeda do Brasil, and the entire device is enclosed within a reeded border.
