Obverse description Brown and ochre intaglio-printed note with a fine guilloche underprint across the field. To the right, an oval portrait vignette of Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the celebrated Prussian architect, set within an ornate foliate frame surmounted by decorative scrollwork. The denomination "Tausend Reichsmark" is rendered in bold Gothic (Fraktur) script at centre, above the issuing authority text and date "Berlin, den 22. Februar 1936"; a small imperial eagle appears at lower centre above the facsimile signatures of the Reichsbankdirektorium members. The left portion of the note carries a prominent watermark margin.
