1000 Reales replica

The Banco de Cádiz was one of a cluster of provincial banks authorized under Spain's 1844 banking legislation, each granted limited note-issuing rights within its own territory. The bank failed in 1856 when new laws consolidated issuance around the Banco de España, and its notes were withdrawn. Originals from this series are exceptionally rare survivors of a short-lived provincial experiment that lasted barely a decade.

This is a replica. The FNMT has periodically produced facsimiles of historically significant Spanish notes for archival and educational purposes — the original plates sometimes surviving at the Madrid facility long after the issuing institution ceased to exist.
