Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse presents a central allegorical vignette of a seated female figure beside the sea, with a cornucopia overflowing with fruit at her side and a sailboat visible in the background. The denomination numeral "1000" appears at left and right, framed by intricate guilloche underprint work and geometric lathe patterns typical of mid-19th century letterpress printing. The issuing bank's name and promise-to-pay legend are set in bold letterpress type across the upper and lower registers.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is printed in blue and brown, composed entirely of elaborate guilloche and lathe-work patterns arranged within a large central oval. The numeral "1000" is rendered in brown within interlocking circular guilloche medallions at the centre, flanked by the inscriptions "REALES" and "VELLON" in blue cartouches at left and right. The bank name "BANCO de MALAGA" curves along the upper and lower borders of the oval frame, with additional concentric guilloche rings filling the corners of the design.

Opmerkingen

The Banco de Málaga was one of Spain's provincial emission banks created under the 1856 banking law, which briefly allowed regional institutions to issue their own notes before the Banco de España absorbed most of that authority. By 1874, the privilege was effectively ended and surviving provincial notes were withdrawn — making any Málaga emission scarce almost by design, since the bank's circulation area was limited and redemption periods were short.

The 1,000 reales de vellón denomination places this note in the final years of that unit; Spain converted to the peseta system in 1868, rendering reales-denominated paper obsolete within three years of this note's issue date.
