正面描述 The note is divided into a left counterfoil and a main body, both printed in dark olive-green and rust-red on white paper. The upper centre of the main body carries an oval intaglio vignette of two allegorical female figures in a landscape with a harbour in the background, set within an ornate guilloche border surmounted by the bold cursive title EL BANCO BALEAR. A horizontal red-orange guilloche band across the centre bears the denomination MIL REALES VELLON in large letterpress, with the promise to pay the bearer in cash inscribed above it in script. The lower portion shows three signature lines for the Comisario Regio, the Administrador, and the Cajero, flanked by the serial number and series designation repeated at top and bottom.

备注

The Banco Balear was one of several short-lived regional Spanish banks authorized under the 1856 banking law, which briefly permitted provincial institutions to issue their own notes. The Balearic bank's existence was cut short when the Banco de España absorbed its right of issue in 1874, and remaining notes were called in. Few circulated heavily — the islands' economy was not large enough to push high-denomination paper through commerce at volume.

At 1000 reales de vellón, this is the largest denomination the Banco Balear issued, and surviving examples are genuinely rare. The reales de vellón unit itself was already becoming obsolete by 1864, with the peseta system introduced just a few years later in 1868.
