| Reverse description | Conjoined busts of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert facing left, rendered in high relief after the medallic style of William Wyon, commemorating the bicentenary of their births in 1819. Queen Victoria is depicted with her characteristic early-reign coiffure of elaborately waved and braided hair, wearing a pearl necklace and earring, while Prince Albert appears slightly behind and to her left with a short beard. A decorative trident sceptre is visible to the right of the busts, and two dolphins flank the base of the composition. The circumferential legend VICTORIA REGINA + ALBERTUS PRINCEPS CONJUX arcs around the upper field, framed by a raised beaded border, with the Roman date MDCCCXIX inscribed in the lower exergue. |
