| Obverse description | The Mexican national arms appear within a D-shaped inner circle against a polished field, depicting the Mexican eagle perched on a cactus and devouring a serpent, with an oak and laurel wreath below. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper portion of the inner circle. Below the inner circle, in the lower exergue, the inscription I ONZA DE ORO appears on one line and LEY 0.999 on a second line, denoting the weight and gold fineness. The entire design is framed by a border of raised pellets around the outer rim. |
