| Opschrift voorzijde | URUGUAY MIL PESOS (Translation: Uruguay One Thousand Pesos) |
| Beschrijving keerzijde | The field is divided into eight compartments by a cross-shaped grid radiating from a central circular motif — itself depicting a stylized sun or shield — and filled with an array of incuse stylized Pre-Columbian pictographic designs executed in the modernist manner of engraver Francisco Matto Vilaró. The imagery includes schematic representations of animals (a quadruped, a fish, a tortoise), geometric and abstract forms (rectangles, wavy lines, an arrow), and symbolic objects, all referencing themes of agriculture and sustenance. The engraver's signature MATTO appears in the lower right quadrant of the field. The circumferential legend reads F A O FIAT PANIS with the date 1969 at the base, all separated from the central composition by a raised inner border. |
