Pick 8 is one of the earliest large-denomination issues from the Banco de España following the institution's reorganization under the 1874 decree that gave it a monopoly on note issuance across Spain — a direct consequence of the political instability of the First Spanish Republic. The original notes were hand-dated and signed, with serial numbers applied separately, making each genuinely unique in its finishing.
This is a replica. The FNMT has produced facsimile runs of early Banco de España issues for archival and commemorative purposes; authentic 1874 examples of this denomination are exceptionally rare in any condition.
