Obverse description The obverse features the Spanish royal coat of arms, comprising a quartered shield displaying the traditional castles of Castile and lions of León, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis in base, surmounted by the royal crown. Flanking the shield on either side are the Pillars of Hercules, referencing Spain's imperial heritage. The legend ESPAÑA arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination 1000 PTAS is inscribed along the lower rim. Decorative rosette stops punctuate the outer border, which is encircled by a continuous beaded rim.
