Obverse description The central vignette carries a portrait of the novelist Benito Pérez Galdós (1843–1920), rendered in intaglio after the celebrated painting by Joaquín Sorolla, set against fine guilloche underprint work. The Spanish coat of arms is positioned to the left of the portrait, while a vignette of the Dracaena draco (dragon tree), emblematic of the Canary Islands, occupies the right portion of the face. Denomination figures, date, and the intaglio signatures of the Governor, Auditor, and Cashier of the Banco de España appear across the lower register.

Reverse description The reverse carries a finely engraved landscape vignette of Mount Teide viewed from Las Cañadas del Teide, Tenerife, complemented by a cartographic vignette of the Canary Islands archipelago. A facsimile of a handwritten autograph text by Galdós, excerpted from Zaragoza — one of his Episodios Nacionales — is incorporated into the composition. Denomination numerals and Banco de España inscriptions complete the design.
