Obverse description Central view of the iconic façade of the Ruins of St. Paul's Church (São Paulo), rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The ornate three-tiered Baroque stonework is depicted in precise architectural detail. Twelve five-pointed stars are arranged in a ring around the central motif, echoing the border of the coin. The Latin legend MACAU arcs across the upper field, with the date 1999 positioned along the lower field beneath the façade.

Reverse description A naturalistically rendered rabbit, seated in profile facing left, occupies the central field in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof background, commemorating the Chinese Lunar Year of the Rabbit. To the upper left, Chinese characters 壹仟 (meaning 'one thousand') are inscribed, while the two-character legend 澳門 (Macau) appears to the upper right.
