| Additional information |
Issued in the final months of Portuguese administration, this coin was struck just before the December 1999 handover of Macau to the People's Republic of China — making the entire 1999 lunar series a transitional curiosity produced under a sovereignty that would cease to exist before the year closed. The Monetary Authority continued issuing under its existing framework through the transfer, but coins dated 1999 occupy an odd legal and institutional limbo: authorized by one administration, many were sold and distributed under another.
KM#95 corresponds to the high-denomination gold issue in the rabbit series, struck at .917 fineness — the same standard used across the Authority's lunar gold program throughout the 1990s.
