| 表面の説明 | Intaglio portrait of composer Eduardo Fabini at centre-right, with his name inscribed on a cartouche below; the Uruguayan coat of arms appears to the left above the watermark field, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint. Denomination is expressed in large letterpress numerals as N$1.000 at upper-right and lower corners, with the serial number printed twice in contrasting red and black. A diagonal overprint reading NO EMITIDO across the face confirms this note was prepared but never released into circulation. |

Uruguay's 1000 Nuevos Pesos denomination belongs to the period of acute inflationary pressure that would ultimately force the country to redenominate again in 1993, replacing Nuevos Pesos with the current Peso Uruguayo at 1000:1. The "Nuevos Pesos" designation itself had been a 1975 redenomination — the country had already shed three decimal places once before arriving at this note.
Thomas De La Rue printed the series, as they did for a substantial portion of Uruguayan currency across several decades. The single watermark is the only security measure on record for this type — modest for a high-denomination note by the late 1980s.
