Obverse description Central device depicts the Bumpa (treasure vase), one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism, rendered in high relief atop a stylized lotus pedestal and flanked by decorative scrollwork within an ornamental cartouche. The upper legend reads KINGDOM OF BHUTAN, with the inscription BUMPA to the left of the central device and the denomination Nu.1000 below. The Dzongkha script འབྲུག་ཡུལ། (Druk Yul, meaning Kingdom of Bhutan) appears along the lower field.
