Obverse description	Portrait of King Ugyen Wangchuck at right, wearing traditional royal headdress, set against an elaborate guilloche underprint in salmon and teal tones. At centre, a large Dharmachakra vignette — the Wheel of the Universal Ruler — rendered in fine intaglio detail. A vertical security stripe at left incorporates a dragon motif, flanked by denomination numerals '1000' in both Dzongkha script and Western digits at the upper corners.

Reverse description	Central vignette of Tongsa Dzong, the ancestral seat of the Wangchuck dynasty, set within a landscape composition flanked by two great Indian hornbills perched on a branch. Above the fortress, a pair of dragons flank a Garuda figure. The state seal of Bhutan appears in the design field, with Dzongkha inscriptions across the lower register.
