Finland's wartime economy placed extraordinary strain on the Bank of Finland's note supply. The 1941 series was issued during the Continuation War, when Finland had re-entered conflict alongside Germany following the Soviet invasion of 1940 — a period of acute monetary pressure and rapid price inflation that would eventually render high-denomination notes like this one practically routine for everyday transactions.
P#74 is a wartime reissue of an earlier design, not a newly commissioned note. The Bank of Finland leaned on existing plate work rather than commissioning fresh engraving, a cost and time decision common to belligerent states printing under military conditions.
