| Beschrijving keerzijde | Light buff-toned reverse centred on a panoramic cityscape vignette of Dortmund as it appeared in the year 1590, rendered in fine line engraving with multiple church spires and rooftops; a framed cartouche above reads 'Dortmund im Jahre 1590'. A circular vignette at upper left depicts a large oak tree with the legend 'Fehmlinde', and a heraldic seal at upper right bears the inscription 'Stadtsiegel 13. Jahrhundert'. Below the vignette, three lines of Gothic text state the legal authority and invalidation clause, with the printer's imprint at the foot. |

| Opmerkingen |
Dortmund's municipal administration issued this 1000 Mark note under the emergency currency provisions that proliferated across Germany as hyperinflation began accelerating through 1922. The Magistrat here was acting jointly for both the urban Stadtkreis Dortmund and the surrounding Landkreis Hörde — an administrative pairing that was regularized when the two districts formally merged in 1928.
W. Crüwell was a long-established Dortmund printing house, and local printing was the rule rather than the exception for Notgeld of this class — proximity mattered when currency needed to reach circulation quickly.
