Seyitnazar Seydi (1800–1867) was a Turkmen classical poet from the Salyr tribe whose ghazals and lyric verse are foundational to the Turkmen literary canon. This issue belongs to a series commissioned by the Central Bank in the early 2000s to mint gold commemoratives honoring Turkmen cultural and historical figures — a program that accelerated sharply under Saparmurat Niyazov's presidency as part of a broader state campaign to construct a distinctly Turkmen national identity.
Mintages for this series were extremely limited, with most pieces absorbed into diplomatic gifts and state collections rather than entering any secondary market.
