Aanvullende informatie

The Ruhnama — a two-volume spiritual and historical text authored by then-president Saparmurat Niyazov — was declared mandatory reading in Turkmen schools, government offices, and even driving tests. Niyazov, who styled himself Türkmenbaşy ("Leader of the Turkmen"), commissioned this coin the same year he required the book to be studied alongside the Quran. He died in December 2006, and his successor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow quietly dismantled much of the Ruhnama cult within two years of taking power.
