Obverse description At center, the Rub el Hizb (two overlapping squares forming an eight-pointed star), a widely recognized symbol in Islamic tradition, is prominently displayed above the Independence Monument of Turkmenistan. Below and flanking the central device are two volumes of the Ruhnama, the spiritual and philosophical work authored by President Niyazov, accompanied by olive branches. The entire composition is set against a background map of Turkmenistan. The circular legend around the periphery reads the name of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and commemorates the 15th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
