| Opis rewersu | An open book dominates the central field, serving as the backdrop for one of Alfieri's most celebrated quotations rendered in capital letters across the pages: 'Volli sempre, Volli fortissimamente Volli' — the three initial V's symbolically bound together. The commemorative dates 1749 and 1999 flank the book at left and right respectively, marking the 250th anniversary of the poet's birth. The Rome mint mark R appears to the lower left of the book, and the denomination L. 1000 is inscribed in the lower field. The design is the work of engraver Maurizio Soccorsi. |
